The work for this position will focus on collecting and organizing teaching materials from the CML magazine collection in our Periodicals WordPress database.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Position 2. The intern will also gain experience and knowledge of current reference services at the O’Neill Library by training at the reference desk and using electronic resources in a highly technical environment.  Other project work will depend on interest and skill level.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Requirements:  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Enrollment in an ALA-accredited library and information science program of study and a letter from a faculty member at that institution recommending candidate for the internship.  The intern must have completed at least one reference course and have an interest in exploring science librarianship. The Intern will be assigned to the National Museum of natural History in Washington, DC, and will be supervised by the Director of the Smithsonian Institution Archives.  Duties will include assisting in the development of an online toolkit that will support the cataloging and management of biological field books, and contributing to efforts to publicize the results of this project. The Systems Librarian also works at the  reference desk and serves as liaison to one or more academic  departments, providing subject-specific instruction, creating  instructional materials and developing collections.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;  &lt;strong&gt;Required Qualifications:&lt;/strong&gt; ALA accredited MLS, or  equivalent. Current experience with an integrated library system.  Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and  written, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.   Proven ability to manage multiple projects and to meet deadlines.  Familiarity with emerging trends in library service and systems.   Experience with web site development.  Experience with OCLC and document  delivery systems. Experience with Windows operating systems.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;  &lt;strong&gt;Preferred Qualifications:&lt;/strong&gt; Two years professional  experience in an academic library. Experience with providing reference  service, library instruction, and staff training. Experience with  Innovative Interfaces Incorporated comprehensive automated system,  electronic reserves and digitization software. Experience with link  resolvers, citation manager software, CCS, HTML, PHP, Mac OS, UNIX, and  Linux.
