MINIMUM RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:

Certified or Statement of Eligibility as Library Media Specialist by the NH Department of Education. Prior experience in a public library or a school library setting preferred.

JOB SUMMARY:

To manage the selection, acquisition, circulation, and maintenance of materials and equipment according to district procedures while training and supervising library media paraprofessionals, volunteers, and students as well as providing an atmosphere that attracts students and teachers to the library.

To ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information

To empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information

To instill a love of reading in all students and ensure equitable access to information

To collaborate with classroom teachers to design and implement lessons and units of instruction and assess student learning and instructional effectiveness

To provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the school library program is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and district

To ensure that the school library program is an integral component of the learning/instructional program
