Information about the PFE/Independent Study positions available in the CML:
Position 1. The work for this position will focus on collecting and organizing teaching materials from the CML magazine collection in our Periodicals WordPress database.
Position 2. The work for this position will concentrate on identifying reading/grade levels for the
children/young adult literature collection and on organizing the information in the CML Literacy Reading Levels WordPress database.
Library services experience: Both positions require reference, individual instruction, circulation, collection development , and database management.
Instructional technology experience:
First option: Students will have the chance to learn how to use literacy software programs such as Lexia, My Reading Coach, or Thinking Reader.
Second option: Students will have a chance to learn how to use learning disability software programs available in the CML such as Kurzweil, Dragon Naturally Speaking, and Read
and Write Gold.
Teaching experience: Students will be required to prepare teaching materials and to teach a workshop on one of the software programs using the Smart Board.
